Loyce Ericson
Felting Artist and Felting Instructor

Loyce has studied with Pat Spark, Polly Sterling, Chad Alice Hagen and Birgitte Krag Hansen. She has been a fiber enthusiast for the past decade and felt maker for the last three years, specializing in sculptural felt, hats, and lightweight textiles. Felting is her passion - it gives her a way to use the textures and colors of fibers in exciting and new ways. Most projects can go from start to finish in a day, and large involved sculptures can be made in less than a week.

"Come Along" The best way to motivate these girls is to have a bucket of grain. The low light of an Oregon winter day inspired the dark strong colors of this picture. The smiles on the faces of the sheep are of anticipation. Matted on green and rust calico fabric, the outside of the barn wood frame measures 33" x 27" $325
Loyce feels that felted pieces have a warmth and "touchability" that no other medium has. Her pieces have taken Best in Class at the 2001 Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival and Best in Show at the 2000 Oregon Flock and Festival.

"Sharing" With their noses close together on the ground, these two friends enjoy their morning grain. Matted on a olive green and peach floral fabric, the outside of the barn wood frame measures 23" x29" $275
"Best Buddy" This is one of our barn cats; he is always my best buddy when I'm milking my goats. This felted picture is mounted in a barn wood frame. The outside of the frame measures 25" x 21". $225
"Bergen playing Cat's Cradle" This needle felted sculpture lounges on his favorite driftwood resting spot. 25" long, $175.00
"Be Careful What You Look For" The driftwood that this creature is mounted on inspired this intriguing sculpture. Could you imagine finding a face like this, poking in piles of sea wrack along the Oregon coast? This sculpture can be hung indoors or out, on a fence or in a garden. 52" x 10" x 6" $125
Whimsical animal sculptures, unique art dolls and
one-of-a-kind wearable art round out Loyce's work.

Loyce also teaches feltmaking.
